The central area of the city consists of two areas — the Samara area and Glory. They merge into one large space , on which the local "White House" , a monument of Glory , the Orthodox Cathedral , the Eternal Flame , gardens , and fountains. The architecture of the Samara area now has a distinct style of monumental Stalin era. In the center of the square is a square with a monument D.Ustinovu (Minister of Defence in the government of Leonid Brezhnev) , a native of the land. Monument of Glory — the main symbol of the city, which certainly is printed on all the postcards , brochures and books on Samara. At 40 meters pedestale — A 13-meter figure of a worker holding a raised hand wings . The monument symbolizes the Samara team contribution to the creation of the aviation industry. During the war, it produced aircraft — the Il -2 "flying tank" . Only most people do not remember that , for the citizens Monument of Glory — good old Panikovski , the hero of the "Golden Calf" , with a goose in his hands. Near the monument in front of a symbolic bas-relief of the motherland , eternal flame burns . Here lay wreaths on February 23 , and on weekends eternal flame attack the couple taking pictures here on the memory
